National Co-ordinators

The introduction of a co-ordinator for OB-PS in any country has the aim of increasing the activities for members in that country. It is recognized that what is appropriate and what is accomplished will differ greatly within each country, as the population, geography, culture and history vary greatly! In every case, the Society as a whole has gained considerably from the increased support of a co-ordinated effort to promote and sustain the Society in its work.

OB-PS now has 25 co-ordinators working in 22 countries. Here are some brief details of some of their recent work, and information on how they may be contacted.

Australia

Jane took over from Janette as the Australian OB-PS Coordinator at the 2010 Annual Event in Bath. She is currently working on streamlining communications and preparing a contact list, including email addresses, for all Australian members. Newsletters are circulated periodically and a luncheon is held annually. Promotion of OB-PS membership continues to be a high priority. Many members are presently involved in preparing for the 2011 Annual Event at the Gold Coast, Australia.

The Canadian OB-PS coordinators work to keep communication lines open among the Canadian members and to encourage prospective members. We send out newsletters, pass on information sent to us from London, organize a country meeting at the annual OB-PS event, and organize Canadian members meetings, usually in Toronto, as required. The OB-PS in Kenya works closely with the Kenya Girl Guides Association and was involved with the celebrations and an exhibition for the 80th Anniversary of the Association. On an ongoing basis, OB-PS members in Kenya support the Kibera Girls Centre, a project for disadvantaged girls. This is one of the many projects currently run by the Kenya Girl Guides.

Korea

The Korean OB-PS co-ordinator helps to organise publicity for each new member, who is presented with an OB-PS pin and scarf.
Korea has ambitions plans for the next year, such as the production of the OB-PS pamphlet in Korean for further promotion of new members and the organization of an exchange program with the OB-PS Japan, Hong Kong and Philippines. Members keep in regular touch by phone and email.

 After four years of hard work (including the event in Bath in 2010) Natalie has handed over to Morna Ferguson as Co-ordinator for the UK. As ever, the main task is to recruit new members and now that the new co-ordinator is geographically at the other end of the country then new horizons are in sight. Natalie and Morna will continue to sell on ebay.

OB-PS is thriving in the USA. Newsletters, Thinking Day Greetings, Power-Point presentations and recognitions continue. Our Ambassador Program is creating a sense of ownership within the membership.

Zambia

OB-PS work in Zambia, is closely linked with that of the National Organization in Zambia, so that they appreciate that the OB-PS is there to assist them in any way possible. This has proved to be an effective way of work.
