The Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) supports the Mission of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS): to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. OB-PS members invest in the future - future leadership by young women, who will lead their families, communities, countries and the world.

£60,000 for WAGGGS from one OB-PS member

Vibeke Riemer has recently donated £60,000 to the World Association. Involved in Guiding since childhood, Olave Baden-Powell Society member Vibeke Riemer knows very well how WAGGGS can help girls and young women. As a member of the OB-PS Board and the WAGGGS Fund Development Task Group, Vibeke is also well placed to know how essential donations are for the World Association to continue to provide this vital work.

Vibeke made this donation for the WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme (WLDP) because she thinks it is “the most important programme for WAGGGS in our time”.   Launched at the 33rd World Conference last July, this programme is presently implemented at events such as the Juliette Low Seminar being held at Our Chalet.

Vibeke is already a major donor to WAGGGS and has received the Princess Benedikte Award in 2006 in recognition of her generosity towards the World Association. This Award is presented to OB-PS members who donate a cumulative total of at least £25,000.

Presentation Ceremonies

The Society honours donors, and recognizes the value that these donations make in the lives of girls and young women all over the world. In order to join the Society, a minimum donation of £6,000 is required.

Donors are presented with their insignia by the Society’s Patron, HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark, at Presentation Ceremonies held during its Annual Events - Vancouver in 2008 - or especially organized in countries where OB-PS is represented.

Attendance at Events

OB-PS Board members and coordinators were recently invited to attend WAGGGS’ 33rd World Conference in Johannesburg last July. Please click here for more information about the Society’s participation in this event.

The Society was exhibiting at the 51st Convention of Girl Scouts USA at the end of October when OB-PS President, Charlotte Christ-Weber, gave a well-received presentation to the History Meeting. We will soon report on the Society’s attendance at this event.
