How OB-PS helps WAGGGS
Traduction à suivre
More than 1000 individuals from 55 countries have chosen to express their commitment to the future: to girls and young women, through the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Each of these individuals - men and women from all walks of life, some who have been involved in Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting, and increasingly, many who have not - believes that WAGGGS and its work can change lives and influence the future for whole communities, and they have each invested their membership donation to support that belief.
Vital support for leaders of the future
The Olave Baden-Powell Society provides essential financial support for the important and ongoing work of WAGGGS including:
-Leadership training. Just half of a donation would pay for training for prospective leaders in Myanmar - a country working towards membership of WAGGGS.
-New programmes for girls and young women worldwide. One membership donation, £6,000, will pay for a course of computer training for young woment in the Sudan, Yemen and Mauritania. It would pay for a five-day training session in Africa with 60 young women from up to 30 countries.
-Support for new worldwide projects which help girls and young women to develop and to carry out community service in developing societies or areas of unrest.
The Olave Baden-Powell Society supports WAGGGS in two ways:
- Through donations to the WAGGGS Endowment Fund, which provides WAGGGS with enough interest income to cover about 1/12th of its operations.
- Through donations to the WAGGGS Operating Fund, where donations are used directly for the day-to-day operations of WAGGGS.
